You can learn a lot about the past in living history lessons.  For a good re-enactment of battles, for example, you need the right weapons, arrows, bows, swords, shields, spears, lances and so on. In Mr Eden´s class the students were eager to make everything with their hands. They bought what they needed and prepared their activities. They made their own clothes and armour, worked with leather and wood, built a camp and even cooked and ate medieval food. Mr Eden taught his “knights” archery and sword fighting. But he was horrified by the disaster in one of his meetings in which a pupil was even hurt. To his amazement, when the Battle of Hastings was finally performed at a school festival, the audience was really pleased.
